More things broken? The water faucet not only drips (I mean, why fix the drip when you are about to replace the whole thing, right?) but also has a couple of pin holes in the stem so that water squirts out to the side whenever you turn it on.

The most important component of our remodel has always been the kitchen. It is actually pretty good looking, but everything in there is broken.
For instance, the spring that keeps the dishwasher door from crashing to the floor has popped off. To fix it we would need to pull out the dishwasher

The time has come to soak some money into our split-level house, which was built in about 1960 and is on a street with a long row of virtually identical houses. We are in Northern Virginia, near DC.
